'Conman Bon Levi behind massage businesses' - ACCC
Meanwhile, the Department of Child Protection has banned a 16-year-old girl from working in the business after determining that she was put at risk. The DCP said that if she was found working at a Bikini Girls Massage parlour again her employers could face three years imprisonment. The Sunday Times revealed in January that Mr Levi was calling himself a "marketing consultant'' for the massage business which hires teenagers to rub down naked men for cash. Mr Levi has a criminal record dating back to 1963. He was behind get-rich-quick scams for decades, earning convictions for fraud, stealing, breaking and entering, assault and other offences. He was jailed in the US for 37 months after an FBI investigation into his role in a pyramid-style franchise scheme. In the Federal Court on Thursday, Judge Antony Siopis dismissed a motion by Mr Levi to halt contempt of court proceedings lodged against him by the ACCC in June last year.
Why conservatives should be the first to say sorry...
On budget night two years ago, I found myself sitting in the Great Hall of Parliament House chatting away with some woman from a Liberal Party branch. After being lectured by her for 10 minutes on why "those nasty Mozzlems" didn't belong in Australia, I thought I might change the topic. So I switched to Indigenous affairs. The conversation went something like this: SHE: Oh, them Abbos! What they need is a good dose of Western Christian civilisation. ME: Well, madam, do you consider yourself a conservative? SHE: Of course! ME: And do you support the status quo? SHE: Well, yes I do. ME: Now on the one hand, we have around 200 years of European cultural status quo on this continent. We also have 40,000 years of Indigenous cultural status quo.

The Shoemaker Grey Wolves erased a 10-point third quarter deficit to hand the No. 12-ranked Ellison Eagles their first District 13-5A loss, 56-51, Friday night at Shoemaker High School. After Ellison's Marquavius James hit a layup with 2:49 left in the third quarter to give the Eagles (19-5, 4-1 13-5A) a 31-21 lead, the Grey Wolves (20-4, 3-1) began to chip away at the lead over the next two minutes. With 47 seconds left in the quarter, Shoemaker's M.J. Porter lined up for a 3-pointer from the corner, but Ellison's Louis Crane was called for a foul and then picked up a technical for reacting to the call giving Porter five free throws and Crane four fouls in the game. Porter went on to hit 4-of-5 from the line to pull the Grey Wolves to within four, 30-34.
Pairs loss caps Sherriff's Open nightmare
THE $120,000 Australian Open in Melbourne turned into a horror show for world singles silver medallist Aron Sherriff yesterday when he completed a hat-trick of first-round exits. The 21-year-old from NSW tumbled out of the triples on Sunday, the singles on Monday and the pairs yesterday with Australian teammate Nathan Rice. But continuing the trend of upsets on slowish greens, Sherriff was in good company with other first-round losers including Terry Antram/Steve Glasson, Gerard Beath/Leif Selby, Barrie Lester/Scott Caundle and Robert Thompson/Anthony Kiepe. And round 2 saw the departures of Shannon Gittoes and Kelvin Kerkow, and Wayne Turley and Mark Casey. Little-known Wynnum Leagues player Paul Laycock is one of five Queenslanders through to the last 16 in the men's singles which carries $18,000 prizemoney.
My Chemical Romance Announce Spring U.S. Tour Dates
My Chemical Romance, who traveled the globe last year in support of their platinum-selling album "The Black Parade," will return to the U.S. in March for a month-plus tour -- the last series of dates before the band take time off to write a new album. The tour, which features support from Billy Talent and Drive By, begins March 28th in Tempe, AZ, and will hit mid-size theaters across the country. My Chemical Romance made a deliberate decision to play more intimate venues this time around after spending months of performing in U.S. arenas on the Projekt Revolution tour with Linkin Park and Taking Back Sunday over the summer. .
Stepson's missive hits a sour note
King) and contemporary titans (Justin Timberlake, Three 6 Mafia), as well as nonperformers who have influenced Memphis and Southern music (deejay George Klein, Ardent Studios, former Gov. "Hearing about it," says Isaac Tigrett, "got me very confused, then very angry." Neither the organizers nor his family had contacted him or sought his permission, he says. The Brass Note was the final straw in what's been an increasingly strained relationship between him and Pat Kerr Tigrett, organizer of the annual Blues Ball and Jingle Bell Ball and an internationally known fashion designer. (Isaac attended her 25th anniversary fashion show in 2005 and said at the time: "My father would have been proud; I cried through the whole thing.
Viewer Comments On Gun Control
These ideas may seem unfair or extreme to some, but the bottom line is guns are instruments of death, it's their only function, and to own them should be a privilege, not a right. We're not living in the colonial times circa 1776, we live in a densely populated, well protected country and it's time to get over this mentality that "If I have a gun then I can protect my self from someone else with a gun". The truth is, if someone is going to shoot you, you're probably not going to see it coming anyway, and in attempting to shoot someone that just shot at you, you stand a good chance of shooting someone other than the person you're aiming for. Imagine if half the students had been armed at NIU, can you imagine in all the chaos and pandemonium how much collateral damage there could've/would've been?! You would've had kids shooting randomly out of shear panic! Anyway, that's how I see it.
Responses to IBM plan posted online
A federal agency proposing to study cancer rates at the former IBM plant has posted public responses to the plan from more than 150 residents, professionals and elected officials on the Internet. Officials from the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health are now preparing responses to the comments and expect to meet with a citizens group in coming months, agency spokesman Fred Blosser said Wednesday. The proposed study involves tapping 28,000 personnel files dating to the early 1960s that document the IBM work force at the sprawling Endicott facility on North Street, now owned by Huron Real Estate Associates. Researchers would cross-reference that information with cancer and death records kept by state and federal government agencies to see if people who worked for the company developed cancer during their employment or any time afterward.

College men's hockey: Michigan Tech scorer travels paths that few ...
You don't see many Division III hockey players move up to the WCHA. Fewer still lead their teams in scoring. Twice. If that doesn't set Peter Rouleau apart, he's also the only player on the ice tonight at the National Hockey Center who also is married. Just how he got where he is goes back to Hancock (Mich.) High School, just across the lift bridge from Houghton and Michigan Tech. As a freshman, he helped win a state title. A year later, he began dating the girl who nearly eight years later became his wife. His playing career took a jolt, though, after he graduated in 2002 and spurned a scholarship offer from then-MTU head coach Mike Sertich. "He offered me a full-ride and I made a mistake," said Rouleau, whose 25 points leads the Michigan Tech Huskies against the 16th-ranked St.
Curtain Call
What was supposed to be hidden backstage was only partially obscured. Intruding further on the intimacy is the music director, who stands behind a backlit screen that is part of the bedroom décor. Her shadow looms large throughout, almost like a voyeur. I Do! I Do! is a diversion that will speak to most everyone on some level. You will probably recognize yourself or your partner somewhere, and try to suppress a guffaw of recognition. Do I recommend this show? I do … until something better comes along. Directed by Lucinda Merry-Browne. Musical director: Anita O’Connor. Set and costumes: Judy Nevins. Lighting: Dottie Meggars. Playing thru Sat. Nov. 10 at 8pm FSa; 3pm Su @ The Bay Theatre Company, West Garrett Building, 275 West St., Annapolis.
