| The Adman Cometh
My current ailment de jour is a deep and persistent congestion in my chest. To combat this situation I am taking a well-known "expectorant," which we all see advertised on television all the time. As if the term "expectorant" weren't nasty enough, all I can think of are those obese little phlegm creatures featured in the TV ads. Yes, Ma and Pa Mucus and their whole Mucus clan have taken up residence in my lungs and they are just sitting around watching Tiger Woods whip the world on the Golf Channel. Every time I start one of my coughing fits, a tornado comes roaring through their comfy abode and carries some of them off into Kleenex oblivion. I'll bet you are wondering by now just where this rant is heading and I don't blame you. Let's just say that it is my opening to a discussion of some TV commercials that really bug me.TV commercials are the bane of the couch potato's existence and they are the primary reason the remote control was invented.
Parties signal axe over spare channel
So I think it would be appropriate for me to look at it as a part of a re-elected government ... to ensure it's not going to be more broadly defined than the legislation intended," she said. "We don't want to eliminate things that are interesting, but I do reiterate our original view that it's not going to be a look-alike fourth channel by stealth." Senator Conroy agreed. "If ACMA has a broader definition than parliament intended itwould be a matter of concern," he said. ACMA spokesman Donald Robertson said the legislation prevented him from revealing how many section 21 applications had been received. He said ACMA's opinion would be published only "when the service about which the opinion has been sought has commenced".
Scotching the myth
Well done, Mr Fraser (now that's a comment I never thought I would make). Along with Mr Leask you set out a compelling case for fiscal autonomy. There is still a tinge of cringe in your writing, but overall this is a vast improvement over some of your previous tortuous Union-slanted articles. .
Family thrilled by recovery of killer virus victim
Encephalitis is a complicated condition and it is impossible to predict an individual patient's chances."Now there are moments of clarity, it's like his brain is unclouding," McKenzie said. "He used to play the guitar and now if you ask him to play a G he will try and make the shape with his fingers. He does look like a very disabled person, but we are confident he will make a fair bit of progress. It is slow but it is good for us."I took my two-year-old daughter Drew to see him and I stood her on the bed and he said her name. He was trying to put his hands up to his face and play peek-a-boo. That's what he use .
Getty Images sold for $2.4bn
For a split-second, everything falls into place, the occasion, the movement and the light combining to produce a picture that is much more than a mere photograph. Bobby Moore holding up the World Cup in 1966. Charles and Diana's balcony kiss. The image of St Paul's during the Blitz. What price can you put on photographs such as these? Indeed, what price an entire collection? The answer, it seems, is $2.4 billion (£1.2 billion) - the amount agreed by Hellman & Friedman, the private equity firm, to buy the archive of Getty Images, one of the world's best-known picture libraries. The collection has about 70 million pictures and 30,000 hours of film footage. Getty's historic Hulton Archive has photographs dating back to the early years of photography in the mid-19th century.

Live College Football: In a Players View
I love to ask you guys the questions, which I am going to do so, but I will answer it in this post aswell. My Heisman Favorite Is..... -Ugh, I don't like to be biased by anyway shape or form, but this is my list for this upcoming season. 1) Chase Daniel-Missouri -I am a Missouri fan, yes I do know that. But, I love the accuracy, the arm, the excitment, the playmaking ability, and his awareness is all what makes this guy the best icon in sports in the state of Missouri right now. Yes, bigger than Albert Pujols. Bigger than Marc Bulger, Torry Holt, or Carl Edwards. All of a sudden Missouri football has a heartbeat that it never had, and fans are starting to live and die for this program. 2)Pat White-West Virginia -Here is the deal. If he stays healthy, and plays just as much as Chase Daniel then Pat White wins it.

Pennsylvania considers putting carbon in old mines, abandoned oil ...
Now, spent oil wells and abandoned anthracite mines could help the green movement. Scientists and state policymakers are wondering if those empty wells and mine workings could one day store greenhouse gases, and in turn, help curb global warming. Environmentalists believe carbon sequestering — storing carbon dioxide underground — could be a solution to reducing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The state's massive network of underground mines and wells means Pennsylvania could play a key role in carbon sequestering, said John Quigley, director of strategic initiatives at the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, or DCNR. State officials have formed a task force — the Carbon Management Advisory Group — to determine how Pennsylvania's natural resources could help combat global warming.
