| MI6 'didn't monitor Diana or Dodi, but had file on Md Fayed'
Neither Princess Diana nor her Egyptian boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed were under the surveillance of the British secret service, but MI6 had a file on Mohammed Al-Fayed, it has been claimed.
An officer with the agency, identified as Miss X, told the inquest into the death of the Princess of Wales that she had conducted a search of MI6 databases but found no files on the couple or any evidence of a plot to kill them.
Mohamed Al-Fayed had earlier alleged at the inquest that MI6 assassinated the couple on the orders of Prince Philip as Diana was pregnant with Dodi's child and the couple were about to get married.
But Miss X, who had assisted British police in their investigation into the deaths of Diana and Dodi in a car crash in Paris ten years back, said there was "no plan whatsoever".

Ex-care resident makes abuse claims
A former resident of a care home in Jersey where human remains were found has claimed children were repeatedly raped while staying there. Peter Hannaford spent the first 12 years of his life at Haut de la Garenne, which is now at the centre of a major child abuse investigation. The 59-year-old said he was abused almost every night and so were many other children. Mr Hannaford claims the abuse was carried out by both male and female members of staff and the building should be knocked down and "erased from people's memories" when the police investigation finishes. Detectives leading the inquiry into alleged abuse at the home have spoken to 140 victims and witnesses about allegations dating back 40 years. Officers said since they went public with the case, a further 10 people had come forward claiming they were victims and the NSPCC had received 63 calls from people claiming to have been abused.

However, some advocates say the federal ban on needle-exchange programs leaves many of the programs in unstable financial situations, making local and state officials reluctant to support needle exchanges, the AP/Times reports. According to Daniel Raymond, policy director for the Harm Reduction Coalition, there are about one million IDUs in the U.S., and less than 20% of them use needle-exchange programs. "There's a huge unmet need," he said, adding, "Even in places where there are programs, they can't always meet the demand."
Those who oppose needle exchanges question the programs' health benefits and ability to rehabilitate drug users, the AP/Times reports.
