An ethnic standoff in northern Kosovo

They were on big fat chairs sitting during all other nations there working for them.

Why should i work for you? Why went Slovens, than Croats, Bosnia, Macedonia, even your twin brother Montenegro went! Why shoud Kosova stay?Because of mines over there? This is only a process of desintegration of a big evil State. You have still a big propaganda programe against all your "enemies".

It will be much better, everyone works for himself. Therefore this had nothing to do with other Countries or minorities. This is only the last part falling from a mosaique called YU. Live in peace!

They contribute to the tax base through wage withholdings but do not claim income tax returns, she added.

"So where's the money going?" Salazar said.

Still, while Salazar said she does not disregard that illegal immigrants have violated the law, the United States was built on immigration and "it will continue to be a country of immigrants."

"We've got to understand these people are humans," Salazar said. "They just want a better life. It is not their fault that the Mexican government doesn't (offer) what you and I have."

Alejandro Dominguez of North Charleston, who crossed the Texas border illegally in 1986 and was later granted citizenship through amnesty, said the illegal immigrants he knows are not taking jobs from Americans, nor are they doing harm to them.

Cal's Anderson, Stanford make hay against Washington schools

He was one of the best and most well-rounded big men in the Nike LeBron James Skills Academy, and he will prove his worth at the next level. If his team can navigate the tournament, you might just see him in the MAAC final during Championship Week on ESPN. Jason Thompson can really play.

3. Shooting Woes? When you are unbeaten, the focus is on your weaknesses, rather than just how good you are. Well, Memphis has some relative weaknesses, but few teams seem able to exploit them enough to steal a win, and it's not like the Tigers haven't played a good schedule. For example, Memphis as a team shoots a poor percentage from the free-throw line (58 percent), which would suggest the Tigers would falter in late game situations and lose in the NCAA Tournament. But Memphis was hardly a great free-throw shooting team the past two years, yet the Tigers made it to the Elite Eight both times.

Death exhibition challenges taboos

AN exhibition seeking to ease Chinese taboos toward death has opened in Hong Kong, featuring "green" paper coffins and multimedia artwork, including a coffin "simulator" giving users a 3-minute taste of death.

There was no champagne or glitz at the "Experience Death Through Art" exhibition's opening today. Instead, the crowd was dominated by elderly Hong Kongers who sipped Starbucks coffee and milled around the death-themed exhibits with walking sticks.

"In Chinese culture, death is still a taboo. Of course attitudes have relaxed in the past 10-20 years, but for many people, death is something better left unsaid," said Craig Au Yeung, the curator for the show.

"I think death education is something that is very meaningful here (in Hong Kong)," Mr Au Yeung added.

With Fidel Gone, Will Cuba Become a Global Ethanol Player?

Fidel Castro hates ethanol. He thinks it punishes the poor by driving up food prices. But Cuba produces a lot of sugar, and with Fidel's brother Raul -- a fan of biofuels -- calling the shots (at least for the time being), Cuba could become a key player in the global ethanol game.

It wouldn't happen overnight, and it would take a huge investment in the country's rickety sugar industry, but Cuba has the potential to produce 3.2 billion gallons of ethanol annually, according to an analysis (.pdf) by Juan Tomas Sanchez of the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy. Another Cuba expert, Jorge Hernandez Fonseca, puts the figure (.pdf) closer to 2 billion gallons but even that figure would place Cuba third -- behind Brazil and the United States -- in worldwide production.

Of course, reaching either of those numbers would require Raul Castro to open the door to foreign investment, but that may not be as unlikely as it sounds.

One in 100 US adults behind bars: study

WASHINGTON: More than one in 100 adults are now behind bars in the United States, home to the worlds largest penal population, with a startling one in nine young black men incarcerated, a study showed Thursday.

The prison and jail population rose by 25,000 to 2.3 million last year, out of a US adult population of 230 million, bringing the incarceration rate to one in 99.1 for the first time in US history, said the Pew Centre on the States. By comparison, China, with a population of one billion people, was second in the world with 1.5 million inmates, followed by Russia with 890,000 people in the slammer, said the study.

America also has the dubious distinction of leading the planet in the rate of incarceration, which is higher than nations like South Africa and Iran.

An Interview with Idina Menzel

The reason being that just singing your own words and putting yourself out there for everyone to embrace or to criticize...it's a very scarifying thing...and yet, it's the most rewarding thing in the world.

I will be forever indebted to the likes of Stephen Schwartz, Jonathan Larson and all the other composers that I've worked with, because it's an honor to sing their music. There's just something different about doing your own thing.

What's next for you after the the release of I Stand? Are you planning more solo work immediately or back to the stage, or...?

I hope to do it all. I will never leave the theater. My heart is there and I love being on stage 8 times a week. It just so happens this is also something that I love. I've spent a lot of my life trying to figure out which one was more "me" and trying to decide, trying to make, trying to focus on one thing...left me thinking that I couldn't' have it all.

Pieces of pie: Royerton resident loves to share her oven creations

Melt butter over medium heat; add brown sugar and heat until sugar caramelizes. Mix water and cornstarch together thoroughly; add slowly to the sugar and butter mixture. Stir constantly.

Beat egg yolks slightly. Add 2 tablespoons of hot mixture to egg yolks, stirring constantly. This keeps them from turning to scrambled eggs in your pan.

Stir in vanilla and milk; cook until thickened. Keep stirring or it will stick on the bottom of the pan and you'll have dark bits in your filling. Remove from heat. Cool slightly and pour into a baked pie crust.

To make meringue, beat eggs yolks until frothy; add cream of tartar. Continue to beat egg whites, adding 1 tablespoon of sugar at a time, until egg whites are stiff but not dry. Top cream-filled pie. Be sure to cover all of the filling with meringue touching crust all the way around.

Blonde for more movie roles?

Lindsay Lohan stepped into the Neil George Salon yesterday and emerged transformed. She smiled big as she headed to the James Blunt concert last night, proudly sporting her new darker 'do. Her new look is a huge improvement — she looks way more natural, not to mention about 10 years younger — Do you love it or hate it? LL said in Harper's Bazaar that she went blonde in hopes of scoring a movie role, but we think that her chances are even better with her new look.
