Circus denies its use of animals is ‘cruel’
At the end of day, when people have left to go home, the animals will be locked away in cages." He called on people to boycott the circus and demonstrate outside it to persuade others to do the same, encouraging people to choose "human circuses" instead. Steve Norman, animal rights spokesman for Barnet Green Party said: "The shopping centre should not be promoting it and should have their own business ethics, which should include points against animal circuses. "It is an outdated and antiquated form of entertainment." Martin Burton, proprietor of Zippos Circus, said: "We respect the right to free speech but everyone should be clear that the number of people campaigning against animals in circuses are a minority. "I believe it would be a huge shame to let the opinions of so few prevent the joy experienced by so many who come to our circus every year and hope that visitors will be able to enjoy seeing animals working in our show for generations to come." Brent Cross has backed its decision to permit the shows, saying that Zippos had an "exceptional" animal rights record.

Janet Jackson is "allergic to marriage". The 'Together Again' singer - who has been divorced twice - has been dating record producer Jermaine Dupri since 2002, but is in no rush to tie the knot again. She told US TV show 'The Insider': "So many people were putting pressure on Jermaine to get married and then they started pressuring me. Everybody would ask us about it - even friends. "I just think if it's meant to happen, it will happen. I like where we are, and I'm happy where I am. I've done it twice before. I'm afraid I might be a jinx. I might be allergic to marriage!" Janet - who recently admitted she was considering freezing her eggs for future use - also revealed she definitely wants to have children, but not in the immediate future.

The Fauxcialites
On a sunny Tuesday morning in early January, a strange noise was echoing through Ally Hilfiger's apartment, a one-bedroom condo located in the faddish badlands of SoHo's western frontier. “It's the tailor," said Ms. Hilfiger, motioning toward a closed door from her cozy perch on a white Art Deco love seat. Before the interruption, Ms. Hilfiger, the 22-year-old daughter of the designer Tommy Hilfiger who herself dabbles in design and fine arts, had been describing a sentiment she shares with a small subset of female New Yorkers: women who are born of wealth, committed to various charitable causes and creative pursuits, but who claim they are weary of the flash of Patrick McMullan's cameras, in search of a more … bohemian sensibility. These are not Upper East Siders with pageboys and pearl chokers, sitting on museum boards but living below 14th Street, in their own Petit Hameaux replete with easels, dress forms or turntables.
